about
At LLANGERNYW in Wales is a mighty yew tree thought to be five to six thousand years old. I have a local yew grove I go to and talk to the mother tree when I need advice and help. I was gifted this song by the tree. To live so long we humans should stand in awe at these ancient trees.
lyrics
Watching humans is a farce, broken hearts within your grasp
Help me sacred wise old tree joining sky and earth below
These are worlds that you do know these are worlds that you do know
Chorus
I was here before the stones I was here before the bones
I was here before the cross I've been here long time lost
Tree of life history hold mighty trunks are gnarled and old
Lovers tryst beneath your boughs carving names in bleeding hearts
Ivy strangles church and cross standing stones are smashed and lost
Lift the veil and slip below lift the veil to slip below
Chorus
I was not the only one we were great we were love
Grasping roots our branches long
Standing in a circle strong
Calling to me great God Bran steeped in earth since time began
Dapples arms reach out to me swaying veins of mottled green
Whispering spirits call me near secret language to my ear
Draw me to thy portal now draw me to thy portal now
Spoken word...............
Chorus
I stood here with raven black battle cry sword and drum
Morrigan takes mankind's dead
Roots are stained with life blood red
Anchor deep in earths domain yew immortal will remain
Ancient pillar of the realms sweet surrender to the dream
Endlessly the wheel goes round mortals tread on hallowed ground
Through the gate to mystery through the gate to mystery
Chorus
I am poison magic strong hissing snake around me twist
Song bird raven owl dark crow bliss eternal by my bow
Chorus
I was here before the stones I was here before the bones
I was here before the cross I've been here long time lost
